How to give the lesson

1. Choose a set of letters from the row at the bottom. About three at a time is plenty.
2. Show the child one letter. Trace it slowly yourself, or press Show, and say its sound: “mmm”, not “em”.
3. Invite the child to trace it with one finger, starting at the dot.
4. There is no need to correct. If the finger strays, the sound stops, and the dot shows where to come back to.
5. Let the child choose which letter to trace and repeat it as often as they like.

Common questions

There is no sound. Turn the volume up with the buttons on the side of the device. The app plays sound even when the silent switch is on.

Where is the page for grown-ups? Tap “For grown-ups” at the bottom of the screen and answer the question, which is there to keep small children out.

How do I rub a letter out? Trace it backwards, from its end to its start, or press the round arrow.

The phone will not turn upright. On a phone the app works on its side, to leave room for the letter.
